The magical world of cinema: Choosing a Home Cinema

Home theater consists of such devices:

  • player (player) – plays video and sound from disks and other media;
  • AV-receiver – converts a digital signal to analog for transmitting it to the acoustics, as well as amplifies it;
  • multichannel speaker system with subwoofer – reproduces the audio signal;
  • LCD TV (sometimes plasma) – displays a picture.

Speaker Set

To indicate the composition of the speaker system using two numbers. The first means the number of speakers, and the second – the number of subwoofers (acoustic system that reproduces the sounds of very low frequencies).

  1. a set of two front speakers. Used to build a stereo system.
  2. a set of two front speakers and one subwoofer. Used to build a stereo system, and a subwoofer allows you to play low bass.
  3. a set of two front speakers, one central and a subwoofer.
  4. a set of two front, two rear speakers, a center channel speaker and a subwoofer. Allows you to create a surround effect.
  5. a set of six speakers and a subwoofer. To the same columns as in the previous version, one central rear channel has been added. Due to this, the sound becomes more detailed.
  6. a set of seven speakers and a subwoofer. Two central rear channels have been added to set 5.1. This makes the sound even more detailed than the previous two options. This composition is less demanding on the location of the speakers in the room.

There are other possible variants of schemes with an increase in the number of columns, for example, a set of 9.1 and 9.2. Today, such cinemas are quite rare, and their cost is usually high.

Soundbar – soundbar compact size. In terms of sound quality, it occupies an intermediate position between full-length 5.1 or 7.1 acoustics and TV speakers. The optimal solution for small premises where it is impossible to install a powerful speaker system. Soundbars are mounted on the wall or mounted above / below the TV.

Some soundbars support a wireless connection, are equipped with a card reader, FM tuner, USB port, karaoke and other useful devices.

The higher the cinema speaker power, the better the sound quality. But it should be noted that it affects the cost. Therefore, choosing a cinema for power, it is best to focus on the area of the room where it will stand. So, for a room of about 20 square meters. m should dwell on the power of the speaker in the range of 60-80 W, 30 square meters. m – 100 watts, and more than 30 square meters. m – 150 watts.

It is important to remember that there are several power values: CPO (rated power) and PMRO (peak maximum power). It is best to focus on rated power. If only RMRO is indicated, then from this value it is quite simple to calculate the CPO. To do this, you need to divide the peak maximum power by 12.

Player Type

DVD player is an outdated version that does not provide high quality video due to the low capacity of DVDs (1.4-9.4 GB). Video resolution – 720×576 pixels.
Blu-ray player – allows you to view movies in high quality. A high-capacity optical disc (Blu-Ray) fits 25-50 GB or more. True, such a disc is worth more than a DVD disc. Video resolution – up to 4K (3840×2160 pixels).

We have to admit that good home cinema models are quite expensive. This is due to the use of modern technology – they are easy to install and easy to manage. Very often, home theaters are stylishly decorated and free from wires. Of course, before buying it is worth exploring all types of home theaters and choose what is right for you. With a home cinema, even a simple movie viewing will make the evening with your family cozy and exciting.
